Harvard will have its first chance at a three day spring reveal this year, when the Crimson Key puts on its Regatta Weekend, May 9 and 10.
Although this is the third year the Key has held its spring dance, this will be the first time that the seven Houses, the Commuters, and the freshmen will hold supplementary affairs on Friday night.
Plans for the individual functions are not complete, but among the affairs that are tentatively scheduled for Friday are two lawn parties, an outdoor buffet dinner, and a hayride.
The entire weekend will be built around the Adams Cup Regatta with Penn and Navy Saturday afternoon, and will be climaxed by the Key's Straw Hat Ball on Saturday night. Featuring a name band, the big dance will again be held in the Indoor Athletic Building with an 800 couple limit imposed on ticket sales by fire regulations.
According to Joseph A. Broldo '52, weekend coordinator, the idea of building on the regatta was well received by Athletic Director Thomas D. Bolles. In accepting the program, Bolles declared that he was especially pleased that the Key chose this year to inaugurate this tradition because it might give the crew an extra boost in this Olympic year. Bolles also pointed out that this season also marked the 100th year of rowing at Harvard, the oldest intercollegiate sport in this country.
In announcing the new plans last night, Broido emphasized the fact that if this year's affair is successful, the regatta weekend will be retained.
