NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Straus Trophy standings released yesterday place Kirkland, with 750 points, first, and Eliot, with 743, close behind in totals through the winter season. Fencing and volleyball were not included.

At the end of the fall season, Leverett and Dunster held the two top positions but were pushed down to third and fourth by the Elephants and Deacons.

Copping first place in basketball, second in squash, third in swimming, fourth in hockey, and a tie for third in boxing. Kirkland amassed a total of 535 points in winter competition to climb into its first place lead.

Eliot's first in squash, swimming, and wrestling, plus a tie for third in boxing moved it from its sixth spot to its second position. Dudley has been making one of its strongest sowing in the past three years, while Winthrop's seventh place position has been a surprise. The volleyball competition will be over by the end of this week.

The complete standings are: Kirkland, Eliot, Leverett, Dunster, Lowell, Dudley, Winthrop and Adams.
