NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The parents of Marine Second Lieutenant Douglas H.T. Bradlee '50 will receive their son's Silver Star medal at Navy Yard exercises this Friday.

Bradlee, who died on June 3, 1951, from wounds received while serving as a rifle platoon leader with the First Marine Division in Korea, was a first string tackle on the Crimson eleven in 1948 and 1949.

The citation accompanying the medal reads: "...Lieutenant Bradlee displayed outstanding courage and initiative in the attack of a strongly fortified enemy hill position. Skillfully leading his men forward in the face of withering enemy fire, he maintained maximum control of his unit, inspring his men to charge forward and secure strategic positions.

"In the final stages of the assault, while aggressively pressing his attack, he was struck and mortally wounded by enemy fire."
