The story of vice-fighting Alvin M. Josephy '36 hits Boston next week in the form of a new movie entitled "The Captive City."

Josephy gained wide recognition after the war as editor of a small newspaper in a West Coast town, where he carried on a single-handed fight to clean up vice. According to the Boston Globe, "He found crime and corruption in his backyard, and with amazing courage in the face of threats, intimidations, and attempted bribery from the leaders of organized mobs and 'hoods,' he pushed on and uncovered evidence of a national crime organization that found its way to the Kefauver committee."

The movie, in which he does not appear, is a semi-documentary based on his life and "personal crusade."
