Dean Griswold announced yesterday the appointment of David F. Cavers, associate dean of the Law School, as Fessenden Professor of Law, effective July 1.

Cavers succeeds E. Merrick Dodd who was killed in an automobile accident this winter.

As Associate Dean, he is organizing research for the investigation of current legal problems. His own fields include public utilities and conflict of laws.

Cavers joined the Harvard faculty in 1946, after serving as Associate General Counsel for the Office of Price Administration. Earlier, he taught at Harvard, the University of West Virginia, and Duke University.
