'55 Team Beats Tech In 10-6 Lacrosse Game

Though it played a sloppy game the Yardling lacrosse team managed to beat a tough M.I.T. squad, 10 to 6, in a contest that gave the freshmen their first taste of hard play, yesterday.

In the first quarter the Yardlings scored three quick goals, but during the entire second and third quarters they consistently lost the ball and showed poor team play. The strong M.I.T. team gave the Yardling ten a hard time with their energetic blocking and ragging of the ball carrier.

Dick Simmons played the first part of the game in the goal and made many line saves, but was replaced later by Steve Denhartog, who also did a workmanlike job. As usual, the defence was the weak link, but their slowness was equalled by the M.I.T. dull play.

The Yardlings will play their next game against Lawrence Academy today at 3 p.m. at Groton.
