Tennis Team To Meet BU In Bid for Fourth Victory

Coach Jack Barnaby will test the depth of the varsity tennis squad against Boston University at 3 p.m. today on the Soldiers Field courts. Five of the first six men will not see singles action, as the Crimson goes after its third shutout and fourth victory in a row.

Two of the Terriers' pre-season standouts are out of the lineup, and the varsity expects little trouble from its opponents today. B.U. earlier in the season dropped a 5 to 4 match to M.I.T., which the Crimson shut out Monday, 9 to 0.

Gene Mann, the current number four man, will play first singles today. Don Bossart, Bill Goodman, Steve Sonnabend, Terry King, and Frank Goodman will probably follow in that order.

Barring unexpected trouble, the doubles duos will consist of Herb Stone and Sonnabend. Paul Trinchieri and Donn Spencer, and Dick Becker and Chase Peterson, as one, two, and three.

Coach Will Play Safe

"If these boys don't do well against B.U., I shall be disappointed in them," Barnaby said yesterday. Not taking any chances, however, he will have his regular doubles teams dressed and ready, just in case.

Trouble-shooter pairs include Captain Charlie Ufford and Bill Goodman. A French and Dave Watts, and John Rauh and Bossart. Barnaby has neither needs nor used these groups in the last two outings, against Springfield and Tech.

The varsity plays next against Brow at Providence Saturday. The undefeated Yardling tennis team will also travel meet the Bruin cubs.
