Quarter-Finals in Ames Comp Open

Quarterfinals of the Ames Competition will be held tonight and Thursday in the Langdell Courtroom. Participants in this week's competition include the Cardozo Club, the Kaplan Club, the Scott Club, and the Jeremiah Smith Club.

In the first round, that starts at 8 p.m. tonight, the Cardozo Club will compete against the Kaplan Club. Tonight's case concerns "captive audiences." The issue involved is whether a transit company may have broadcasts with commercials in its buses and streetcars. The argument will center on constitutional and administrative law issues.

Judges will be the Honorable Philip Halpern, Justice, Supreme Court of New York. Eighth Judicial District, and attorneys Reuben L. Lurie '21 and Benjamin A. Trustman '22.

Presenting the oral argument for the Cardozo Club will be Marcus Aaron 11 and Richard J. Graving. Opposing them will be Allen E. Kline '50 and Jerome Shelby, representatives for the Kaplan Club. All these men are in the second year of Law School.
