Ode to Circulation

In years gone by, Lament, in spring, would flaunt its air conditioning

And justly advertise, with pride: "Twenty degrees more cool inside."

And students filled the place to beat the rigors of exam time heat.

Air cooled, they were in comfort there, as in a bamboo frigidaire.

For, as all know, more thoughts are bred, and word lists crammed, and pages read

In vigorous climes than in the heat of College room and Cambridge street.

This year, there must have been a hitch--someone forgot to pull the switch.

Lamont, instead of swelter-free, is stuffy as the IAB.

The students plead, gesticulate: "Relieve us, or we suffocate!"

They've come to learn and not to sweat. It's not too late--they're studying yet.
