Pictured above are the winners of the University Regatta for singles rowing, held over the past several weeks in the Basin.
Winner of the Darcy Cup for Senior Single Sculls was senior John Hart (second from left), who rowed the one-mile course in the time of 7:07, against a stiff headwind. This marks the second consecutive year that Hart has won the trophy. Last weekend, Hart finished third in the championship division of the American Henley Regatta, held in Philadelphia. He finished second in the collegiate division, behind the University of Pennsylvania's Jack Guest, Canada's number one contender for the 1952 Olympics.
Records Broken
Peyton Harris (right) took first in the Junior Single Sculls, rowing the three-quarter mile in the record smashing time of 5:12.0. In the 155 pound Single Sculls, senior Pete Lord (recond from right) finished first in 3:23.7 for the half mile.
The Novice Single Sculls were won by senior Morgan Hatch (left), who stroked the half mile in 3:13.7, also a new record.
