The Financial Aid Center has recently moved into Weld 29 in a major switch-around of College offices.
The Financial Aid Center formerly had offices in the Student Activities Center on Dunster Street, and the Student Employment Office was located in Weld 29.
But, according to John U. Monro '34, Director of the Financial Aid Center, (above) the Student Employment needed elbowroom and Financial Aid was too far away from sister offices like the Student Placement Office in Weld.
So, by mutual agreement with the Student Employment Office, Monro gathered his assistants and files and moved to Weld. Other offices also came. The Student Porter Program, whose offices formerly had been scattered all over, came as did the Veterans Office.
The most important part of the transfer was the linking of the Student Placement and Financial Aid. Monro points out that both work on fundamentaly the same job--providing financial assistance to needy students--and can work closer in the same building.
The Student Employment Center can now develop the large floor space in the Student Activities Center.
