Carnegie Corporation Grants Lamont $9000 To Prepare Catalogue

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Carnegie Corporation has granted Lamont Library $9,000 to compile a list of its books, Library Director Philip J. McNiff said yesterday. The purpose of the list will be to aid other college libraries in selecting books for purchase.

All the books in Lamont will be recorded by author and by subject. Harvard professors will be consulted for suggestions of books not in the Lamont collection.

The new list is scheduled for publication late next fall. It will replace the catalogue currently used, the Shaw list, published by Swarthmore College in 1930.
