6 Papers Back More Intra-Ivy Grid Games

Six Ivy League newspapers have signed a joint resolution recommending that Ivy colleges play at least five football games within the league. The purpose of this move, according to the Daily Princetonian is "to promote a spirit of loyalty and competition within the league."

The CRIMSON and the Daily Pennsylvanian have refused to support the resolution. A CRIMSON editorial of December 18 stated that many outside colleges like Colgate and Davidson "are much better suited to Harvard's schedule than, say, Pennsylvania or even Princeton."

An earlier resolution, recommending reinstatement of spring practice was signed by only four newspapers. The Princetonian said, "We cannot make a strong appeal to the Presidents on spring football."

The Daily Princetonian, sponsor of both resolutions, drafted them "in an effort to strengthen the Ivy League and thereby aid in the deemphasis movement."

An Ivy Group ruling requires that member colleges play each of the other seven teams once every five years.
