Climaxing an easy victory with a 55 yard march, the Jayvees, in their first game of the season, smothered an out-manned and outfought Nichols Junior College tears by a score of 31-0.
Scoring in every quarter, the Crimson alternated a single wing, last string varsity combination with its regular Jayvee "T" lineup.
Paul Murphy, the passing tailback of the single wing combination, scored twice for the victors. In the last period, wing back Terry Cheek intercepted a Nicholas pass on his own 45 and streaked to the Nichols 28. Dick Oehmler ran the distance on the next play for the Crimson's final score.
The Nichols team was outplayed throughout the entire game. The offense was able to penetrate only four yards into Crimson territory.
George McDonald, fourth string varsity fullback, and blocking back Ray Henry completed the scoring.
Next Friday the varsity meets Deane Academy at Franklin. Deane is expected to give no more trouble to the strong Crimson jayvees than did Nichols.
