The Transmission Ground Along Behind

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Police swooped down on Mt. Auburn St. during the Colgate game Saturday to find this old Reo illegally parked. Its right front wheel was on the curb.

Within 15 minutes the wrecker had the Reo towed away. To extricate it, the owner made a trip down to police headquarters for a claim ticket, then, with five dollars "to cover towing charges" he asked the garage for the vehicle.

But he did not drive away. The car's gears were locked in reverse when the wrecker arrived. The truck driver tried to yank the gears into neutral, but couldn't, so he towed the car forward with gears locked. The drive cost the owner five dollars plus a now transmission.

Police Chief Ready's force was out hunting again last night, and will continue all week.
