Conant Denies Plan Voiding Potsdam Pact

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

President Conant, in his now post as U.S. High Commissioner in Germany, has squelched West German hopes that the United States will repudiate the Potsdam agreement on German frontiers.

Speaking in Bonn at his first official press conference, Conant stated that President Eisenhower's announced intention to repudiate secret agreements does not apply to Germany. He added that the question of German boundaries "will be settled at the final peace treaty in the formulation of which Germany will have a voice."

Conant met yesterday with the British and French High Commissioners. After further talks with West German leaders in Bonn, he plans to Tuesday to pay his first visit to Berlin. That city is now faced with the possible threat of another blockade. Next Friday he will meet with American military leaders at Heidelberg.
