NO HALL AT ALL

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

Last night, while E. E. Cummings was continuing his "egocentric exploration of himself," dozens of would-be listeners were exploring various futile ways of gaining entrance to Sanders Theatre. Most of those who arrived at 7:50 and later, finding the hall filled to fire-law capacity, fruitlessly alternated between the two entrances, hoping to catch one of the two policemen in a more charitable mood than the other. Others concocted stories about being the personal guest of Mr. Cummings. Two or three climbed the fire escapes only to find all doors firmly fastened. One enterprising young man and his date gained entrance to the basement of Memorial Hall, worked his way through a labyrinth of corridors, and finally came to a dead end when a door on the main floor wouldn't yield to his jackknife. It would seem that such acts of faith on the part of those interested in the Charles Eliot Norton Lectures would merit the attention of those in charge of selecting the auditorium in which the Lectures are to be held.
