The University's present football policy will be under attack at the next meeting of the Athenaeum, next Sunday night. Austin Lake, sports columnist for the Boston Record-American, will speak for the resolution, and Athenaeum members will debate both sides.
Officials of the group announced last night the formation of an Independent caucus within the Athenaeum. Meeting Sunday in Phillips Brooks House, the Independents elected the following officers: Chairman, Robert Effros '54; vice-chairman, John Rodman 1L; and Charles Talbert '54, recording secretary.
Although the official resolution on the football topic has not been framed, the debate will include the controversial issues of spring practice, scheduling, and "encouragement" of good players to come to the College.
