Pulitzer Award Given MacLeish For '52 Poetry

Archibald MacLeish, Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory, yesterday was awarded his second Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. He last was honored in 1933.

For his "Collected Poems 1917-1952," the 61-year-old poet received the $500 prize from the trustees of Columbia University. This is the 36th year it has been given.

Earlier this year, MacLeish won the National Book Award for the same collection of poems.

Other Pultizer Prizes went to author Ernest Hemingway for his novel, "The Old Man and the Sea," and to playwright William Inge for his Broadway hit, "Picnic." The New York Times won its second special citation, this time for its Sunday edition section. "Review of the Week."
