John D. Reilly '54 was unconscious and on the danger list in St Elizabeth's Hospital late last night as a result of injuries suffered when his car smacked up on Soldiers Field Road Saturday. There were four others with him including Charles E. Cook '54.
Reilly received the last rites of the Catholic Church Sunday, but last night authorities at the hospital gave him an even chance to live. "He's shown slight improvement, but we can't tell for a few days, because he's still unconscious," an attendant said.
Reilly, whose car went out of control and hit a tree about 11:30 near Brighton, was suffering from a serious chest wound, face fractures, fractured skull, and broken arm, leg, and shoulder.
