Frank H. White '55 (above), varsity wingback for the past two seasons, received the LaCroix Award for sportsmanship last night.
White, who throw the winning pass in this year's Yale game, was one of the first varsity football players to win this award which is given "to that member of the junior varsity or varsity football squad who, by his enthusiasm for the game, and by his sportsmanship, loyalty, and team spirit, most nearly demonstrates those qualities so characteristic of Bill LaCroix ('42)."
LaCroix was a member of the varsity football team and died on aircraft carrier duty in the Pacific during World War II. A-committee of coaches and friends of LaCroix makes the award annually.
