Coach Bob Pickett's varsity wrestling team will be at Ithaca today and tomorrow as an underdog but not hopeless contender in the eastern intercollegiate tournament.
The strongest teams in the tourney, on the basis of season's records, are Navy, which the Crimson has not yet faced this year, and Army, which has already defeated the varsity, 27 to 3.
Chandier Leads Team
Leading the Crimson squad will be Captain Chick chandler, wrestling in the 157-pound class, land Kon Culbert at 177. Culbert this season has won eight bouts by pins and lost two by decisions.
In compiling its even won-loss record, the varsity so far has beaten Williams, Tufts, Brown, Penn, and M.I.T.; while it has lost to Columbia, Army, Princeton, Yale, and Springfield.
After this weekend's tourney, the only remaining competition for the wrestles will be the N.C.A.A. tournament at the University of Oklahoma on March 19 and 20.
