Law student Don Scott defeated freshman Ben Heckscher in three straight games at Hemenway Gymnasium yesterday afternoon to win the third annual University Squash Championship tournament. Scores were 15-12, 15-13, and 15-9.
Scott, a first-year law student, was number one man on the Princeton squash team last year and "has been improving steadily up here," according to varsity coach Jack Barnaby.
Heckscher was undefeated this year as captain and number one man on the Yardling team. He beat varsity player Haddon Tomes in five games to reach the tournament final.
Larry Brownell, top man for the varsity most of this season, defaulted from the tournament so he could begin crew practice.
