Band, Cheerleaders Begin Yale Weekend With Rally

A rally on the steps of the Indoor Athletic Building, that will "definitely not be cancelled because of rain," will initiate the Yale weekend at 7:30 to-night, John R. Menninger '57, chief Crimson cheerleader, announced yesterday. It is cautiously rumored that the band will march through Lamont Library on its way to the I.A.B.

The rally will come after an entourage of band, rooters and cheerleaders marches through the Yard and the House area, beginning from the Freshman Union at 7 p.m. Coach Lloyd Jordan and Varsity Captain William M. Meigs '56 will speak at the I.A.B., although the team will not be present.

Meanwhile, New Haven authorities say that Crimson fans who have not reserved rooms for the weekend will find it impossible to get hotel space. Craig LeVin, owner of the Taft Hotel, advised students who cannot get rooms in New Haven to go to Bridgeport, 20 minutes away.

At Yale, undergraduate organization presidents are scheduling daily meetings with college officials and Campus Police Chief John H. Bowers to prepare for any demonstrations which may follow Saturday's game.

The Yale Daily News, still smarting from last spring's New Haven editions of the CRIMSON, has issued warning to Eli students, faculty, and employees, forbidding them to give information to "unfamiliar student reporters."

Reliable sources indicated last night that the News will break a newly-established precedent this weekend and publish one of its rare Saturday editions.
