Starting in 1956, Ivy League football teams will have a trophy as well as formal league championship to play for. The trophy, offered by the University of Pennsylvania class of 1925, was accepted yesterday at an Ivy League administrative meeting in Cambridge.

The award features a sculptured scrimmage scene, "The Onslaught," taken from a Harvard-Penn game of the 1890's.

The committee also approved September 1 as opening day of football practice next fall.
