Four-Man Squad Wins Track Title

Captain Bob Rittenburg led an informal track team to victory in the Whitinsville (Mass.) Track and Field Association's third annual meet last Saturday.

Winning both the 120-yard high hurdles and the 220-yard low hurdles. Rittenburg also placed third in the broad jump and ran the anchor leg on the victorious mile relay team. His times for the hurdle races were 14.9 and 23.6 seconds, respectively. He accounted for 12 1/4 of the Crimson's 19 points.

Other entrants for the varsity were Renny Little, Otis Gates, and Zab Warren. Little placed second to Charlie Jenkins of Villanova in the 440, who ran the distance in 49.1 seconds, after also winning the 880 in 1:56.8 seconds. Gates and Warren competed only in the relay, along with Little and Rittenburg. Their time was 3:21.9, beating out both Fort Devens and Northeastern.

The 100-yard meet record of 10 seconds was broken seven times during the day. Brooks Johnson of Tufts set the new record of 9.7 in the finals, edging out William Shearer of Boston University.
