Freshman Initiates 'Yardling' Revival

Active editorship of the "Yardling," the College's freshman newspaper, has dwindled to an inadequate three-man staff, John Debicki '59 revealed yesterday. In an attempt to revitalize the paper, Debicki has placed posters in the freshman dorms calling for a "New Freshman Newspaper Organizational Meeting."

"We just can't go on like this," Debicki said. When questioned if he envisioned the threat of a rival freshman weekly, he replied, "There isn't room enough for one, let alone two."

The Yardling's managing editor blamed lack of interest on the fact that most would-be freshman journalists try out for the CRIMSON and that many of those interested at the beginning of the year drift off into other extra-curricular activities.

The paper is given funds at the beginning of the year by the Yearbook, but during the course of the year it depends on its own advertisements for financial support. A drop in advertising coupled with the lack of interest has left the paper able to publish only once since the beginning of exam period.
