The varsity wrestlers swamped the second of a succession of minor league opponents last night, scoring a lopsided 27-3 win over M.I.T. on the I.A.B. mats.
Three varsity wrestlers registered pins, two in the first period, and four others scored shut-out decisions, as only Bob Kozol at 130 lost, in a 14-8 slugfest with Engineer Jim Simmonds.
Heavyweight Ted Robbins finished off the horror show with the fastest fall of the evening, taking down his lighter Tech opponent and pinning him in 1:53.
John Watkins at 137 pounds spent only six seconds in taking down Bernie Schneiderman, scored a near fall, and after Schneiderman had escaped, proceeded to take him down again and this time pinned him. All this action took 2 minutes, 37 seconds.
Joe Noble at 157 scored the other fall, but his took comparatively longer. He had taken down his opponent and gotten a point for a predicament in the first period, and in the second had escaped from the bottom position in only seven seconds. However, he was unable to take down and pin his elusive opponent until 2 minutes and 43 seconds of the second period had elapsed.
McKhann Wins
McKhann at 177 scored a third period escape and added riding time for a 2-0 advantage.
In the varsity's only loss, Kozol proved vulnerable to his opponent's double leg takedowns. Simmonds scored the amazing total of 12 points on takedowns alone.
