Athletic Organization Seeks Uniformity in 'H' Sweater Colors

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A subcommittee of the Undergraduate Athletic Council has recommended that all varsity letter sweaters have the same color combination.

John Simourian '57, John Read '57 and Robert Gilmour '57, in a letter to the Harvard Alumni Bulletin, pointed out that the three colors now in use are "inadequate" because of the growing number of major sports.

The subcommittee found the uniform sweater system the most satisfactory of five proposals because it would lead to "greater cohesiveness within the University." It rejected the use of a fourth color as "too complicated," and doubted that another color could be found which would "adequately represent Harvard."
