The freshman cross country squad crushed Andover over a three-mile Franklin Park course yesterday. The Yardlings, by taking all seven qualifying places, attained the minimum possible score of 15-50, and notched their third successive win of the season.

At the one mile mark, captain Mark Mullin and Bob Knapp were together, but Mullin pulled ahead in the second mile to win in 15 min. 2 sec. Knapp was second at 15 min. 24 sec., with Anthony Field third at 15 min. 48 sec.

The other four places were taken by Gregory Baldwin, Richard Slansky, Nat Goodhue, and Don Kirkland.

"Mark Mullin, undefeated this year, has already demonstrated that he is a top-flight freshman performer, one of the best Harvard has ever had," commented coach Bill McCurdy last night.

"As far as I know, only one freshman possibly rates above him in any of the Ivy League teams. But the most encouraging thing was the strong showing of the runners behind the leaders," McCurdy added.
