Two Republicans Discuss Methods To Rebuild Party

Two Massachusetts Republicans discussed last night how the GOP should rebuild after its "decisive and devastating defeat" in the 1958 elections. The two, both candidates in the '58 elections, spoke before the Eisenhower Club.

Laurence Curtis '16, who defeated John L. Saltonstall by nearly 6,000 votes for the 10th District Congress seat, reviewed the campaign measures that kept him in office. "We just did the usual things harder," Curtis said, referring to television, radio, and newspaper publicity.

One unorthodox technique he used was to publicize Senator Leverett Saltonstall's endorsement of Curtis. By emphasizing the difference between the Massachusetts Senator and his Congressional opponent, Curtis attempted to reduce John L. Saltonstall's name advantage.

Mrs. Marion Boch, defeated candidate for Secretary of State, stressed the need of vigorous party organization.
