Lamont Open For Saturday Final Study

The last week of summer school will be marked by the Saturday opening of Lamont and the Thursday locking of all entry doors to all dormitories.

For the first time this summer, Lamont will be open all day Saturday, which should answer the requests of many students who answered the Harvard Summer News poll.

University officials emphasized that all students must be out of their rooms by noon on Aug. 21 and that there will be no facilities will be in use after that date. The last meal at the Union will be served on Aug. 20 at 5:30 p.m.

As another aid to students' 11th hour cramming, the Union will be open all weekend for study.

Reserve books for the weekend will circulate in Lamont at noon on Saturday and will be due at 9 a.m. Monday, according to Lamont officials. Reserve books circulating Friday will be due Saturday at 9 a.m.

All fines must be paid and books returned before the library closes Aug. 20.

Library officials also announce that their new policy of fining students 10 cents a day for overdue classified books, inaugurated this summer, will be continued through the winter. Before the institution of fines, books were often kept out of the library for up to four years, although "only a few were stolen," according to a Lamont official.

The Grays Hall Music Hour will be held in the morning this weekend, as well as during the afternoon, as usual. This Saturday and Sunday, from 9 to 11 a.m., students seeking refuge from exam studies may supplement their musical education.
