Track Varsity to Meet Chicago University; Coach, Sportswriter Predictions Disagree

Fresh from its smashing victory in the Philadelphia Inquirer games, the varsity track team will hit the road again today in preparation for the crucial U. of Chicago meet over the weekend.

Prospects for the upcoming contest are somewhat uncertain. George C. Carrion '99, dean of Boston sportswriters, is on record as predicting "Harvard by at least a hundred points," but Crimson coach MacPurty stated yesterday "My form sheet shows Chicago by 26. I don't see how we could possibly win unless we used assistant coaches Courtney and Rittenberg."

Because of this conviction, MacPurty admitted that he was considering trying to slip Courtney and Rittenberg into the lineup. "Both those fellows are pretty young," he confided. "Besides, they've been growing beards for the last month or so, so they'll be hard to recognize."

Captain Al B. Gordon called this strategy-move "a master stroke." Commenting on his team's chances against the Chicagoans, Gordon asserted that "Even with the coaches in there it will take some real heart from our side. We feel that those Windy City boys are way up for this."
