Morse to Solo

A "one-man theatrical scrapbook," entitled "Merely Players," will have its American premiere Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. in M.I.T.'s Kresge Auditorium. Sponsored by the M.I.T. Summer Session, this is one of a series of Special Events in the Arts, some of which have been offered jointly with the Harvard Summer School.

"Merely Players" is the brainchild of Barry Morse, the acknowledged first-ranking star of the Canadian stage, who is appearing this summer with the Group 20 Players. Morse describes his show as "a light-hearted look at the actor and his life, his ups and downs, troubles and triumphs--in fact and fiction, in various periods and places."

When Morse did parts of the show here on a WGBH-TV program of commentary and excerpts a few weeks ago, he drew enthusiastic raves from both critics and the general public. During the coming season he plans to tour Canada with his one-man performance.
