The University has purchased a $1.5 million site for use in the Medical Center construction program.
Sale of the House of the Good Shepard, a refuge for the rehabilitation of girls, was announced recently. Destruction of the three-story building will open more than 700 acres of land for University use.
Construction of the multi-million dollar medical center may not reach the newly purchased site at 341 Hunington Avenue for several years, University officials have indicated.
Present expansion plans for the medical center include the razing and rebuilding of the block bordered by Boylston and Dunster Sts. Buildings in the new block will contain stores on the ground floor and administrative offices on the second story.
