A dramatic finish by Al Gardner in the epee gave the Crimson a close 14-13 victory over the Tigers at Princeton on Saturday. In the last bout, with the score tied 13-13, Gardner trailed 3 to 1 before coming back to tie the score and triumph in a sudden-death overtime.

Gardner won all three of his bouts, but the epee still lost, 4-5. In the foil, captain Larry Johnson won two matches, but the team lost, 3-6. Most Crimson strength came in the sabre, where Lajos Heder won three bouts and John Piel and Paul Winig each won two for a 7-2 sabre romp.
