The freshman track team finally met defeat last Saturday in New Haven, bowing to Yale, 48 2/5 to 46 9/10. Princeton was a close third with 41 7/10 points.

Eddie Meenan won two races for the Yardlings. He took first in the mile with a time of 4:21.7, a new freshman indoor mark, and captured the 1000 in 2:18.2 after a close battle with Dave McConoughey of Yale. Meehan also brought the Crimson two-mile relay squad past Princeton into second place with a 1:59.5 anchor leg.

Other first-place finishers for the Yardlings were Tom Holcombe, with a 45 ft., 3 in. shot put, and Leigh Calloway, with a 48 ft., 3 in weight throw. Captain Don Forte tied for second in the pole vault at 12 ft.

Hugh MacMillan of Princeton equalled a school record with a 6.3 clocking in the 60-yard dash. Bulldog Peter John turned in a fine 1:14.7 600 to edge Lew Hitzrot of Princeton.

The freshmen were not helped by riding to new Haven Saturday morning in a bus that was (1) stopped by a state police car; (2) slid into the police car; (3) went 20 extra miles so the driver could sign for bond; (4) lost the use of its windshield wipers through mechanical troubles; (5) suddenly found itself with no reverse gear; and (6) leaked.
