SWEENEY NAMED LECTURER

Modern art expert James Johnson Sweeney has been named lecturer in Fine Arts for the Spring Term. He will lead a small graduate seminar in contemporary art and may give some public lectures.

Sweeney, recently appointed director of the Houston art museum, was formerly in charge of the Guggenheim Museum in New York. He has also held posts at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and at the Art Institute in Chicago. While at the University, Sweeney will have the use of the guest suite at Eliot Houses.
