Though only 60 per cent of the students taking English 115 passed, the number of failures is not unusually high, Bartlett J. Whiting '25, professor of English, said yesterday.
"The graders regarded the exam itself and the marks given as normal for the course," Whiting stated. English 115, which covers nearly all of Chaucer's writings, is one of the courses which may be taken to meet departmental Honors requirements.
Commented one student: "I like the course, but the grading is really rough."
