A sophomore has collected 150 signatures in Leverett House on a petition protesting the decision by the Faculty and the Corporation to print College diplomas in English, not the traditional Latin.

Eliot H. Stanley '63, who plans to send his petition to President Pusey this week, said yesterday that he hopes to further the protest to other Houses. He reported that he could have added another one or two hundred names to the list had he wanted to go beyond 150.

Part of the protest reads, "All traditions are not sacred; however, some are worth continuing and strengthening. In our opinion the Latinized diploma from this oldest of American universities is symbolic of a scholarly tradition worth preserving. We urge that the University reconsider its decision in time for June graduates of this year."

June graduates who support the protest will be out of luck; the University has said that this year's diplomas have already been printed--in English.
