Baseball Team Faces B.U. Today, Will Try to Break Losing Streak

The varsity baseball team will be out to break its three game losing streak today when it faces Boston University at Soldiers Field at 3 p.m.

The main problem of late for Coach Norm Shepard's squad has been pitching, which at the beginning of the year was considered a strong point. The hitting, been strong enough to make up for bases on balls and fatal defensive lapses.

In the lose to Columbia Saturday, an early Lion rally that routed starter Dick Garibaldi, withstood a late assault by the rejuvenated Crimson hitting power.

In today's game Shepard will choose either Al Yarbro or Dave Larkin to start. Yarbro pitched well in his last start when he lost 5-4 no Northeastern. Larkin was impressive in early relief roles, but failed as a starter against Springfield, when the present Crimson losing streak began.

With a 1-1 record in the Greater Boston League the Crimson can still remain in contention for the title if it defeats B.U. Thus this game is crucial.

The lineup should remain the same, with Phil Bernstein at first, Al Martin at second, Dave Morse at short, and Corky Cronin at third. But either Bill Rodgers or outfielder Mike Drummey might be moved in for defensive reasons.

If he doesn't start at third, Drummey will be in the outfield with Dick Shima and Charlie Revenel. Dick Diehl is the catcher.
