Hughes Art Auction Takes Place Today

An art auction to gain funds for the Hughes senatorial campaign will be held tomorrow evening at Stebbins Auditorium, 1 Church St., at 7:30 p.m.

Sponsored by "Artists and Writers For Hughes," the sale will include works of painters, sculptors, graphic artists and writers from throughout the country.

Preceding the auction tomorrow evening, the works will be on exhibit at Stebbins Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Among the works being sold are manuscripts of Archibald MacLeish and William Alfred, paintings by Jack Wolfe and Carl Nelson, and prints by Ben Shahn and Antonio Frasconi. Of particular interest are the manuscripts of Donald Hall and May Sarton, which contain poetry both in final and working drafts.
