Kenneth V. Thimann, one of the pioneering investigators of plant hormones and growth has been named Higgins Professor of Biology, it was announced yesterday.
Thimann, the master of East House at Radcliffe, was born and educated in England. He joined the University Faculty in 1935, and became Professor of Biology in 1946.
The author of two books considered landmarks in the field of botany, he has been president of six learned societies.
