Brown Bashes Crimson JVs, 22-7; Air Attack Paves Way for Victory

Harvard JV quarterback John McCluskey run the opening kick-off back 100 yards for a touchdown, but the Crimson could do nothing right thereafter and went down in defeat to Brown yesterday, 22-7.

Undaunted by McCluskey's dodging, twisting run, Brown went right to work after Harvard kick off, marching 76 yards to tie the score at 7-7. The Bruins' counter came on a six-yard off-tackle slant by left-halfback Melvin Bryant.

Brown scored again in the first quarter when left-end Bill Sudell trapped Harvard's Bri Gregg in his own end zone for a safety. Sudell and his mates on Brown's defensive line thwarted Harvard's ground attack all afternoon.

In the second half Brown quarterback Donald Carcieri began to riddle the Harvard secondary with passes. Time and again when Brown was faced with third down and long yardage, and Carcieri would find a receiver free.

The Bears' second TD came on a six-yard pass from Carcieri to end Bob Taylor. Brown scored again in the fourth quarter when Carcieri hit Charles Gardinier in the end zone with a pass from the five.
