The tragedy of President Kennedy's assassination should not obscure completely Aldous Huxley's death of cancer the same day. Huxley's passing has removed one of the most urbane and erudite writers of this century. His catholic mind ranged through the art, science, literature, religion and history of the entire world. For forty years, he used that mind to uncover human error and weakness, but he never lost his regard for "what ever is splendid in humanity."
