Ivy Loop Teams Battle for Diadem

Nothing seems right in the Ivy basketball loop anymore. Last Friday front-running Yale needed a last-minute comeback and an overtime period to beat the Dartmouth Indians, who are languishing in eighth place. Brown complicated matters by defeating third-place Harvard and winning its first Ivy contest in five tries.

Three days later, the aroused Bruins went on to dump doubly unfortunate Dartmouth, while Penn--which was favored to top the league--was losing to Princeton. The Tigers followed their victory over the Quakers with a loss to Cornell later in the week.

Not to be outdone, the Big Red of Ithaca beat Penn, as well last week, though they have been known to lose to Harvard and even lowly Dartmouth.

This week-end Harvard will play Cornell, which has fallen to the third-place Crimson, but which thrashed second-place Penn. The runner-up Quakers will attempt to dethrone Yale whom, of course, they have already beaten.
