The Crimson netmen put on an impressive display of tennis under pressure yesterday to crush Dartmouth, 9-0 in an Eastern Intercollegiate Tennis League match at the Soldiers Field Courts.

Three of the six single matches went into three sets, and most of other matches were close too, but Harvard pulled them all out.

The day's biggest wins were posted by Paul Sullivan, who smashed Dave Smoyer, 6-2, 6-2 in the number one match, and Sandy Walker, who buried Wally Lord, 6-1, 6-3 at number six.

But the other matches were all close. Number two man Frank Ripley was pressed hard by Indian captain Doug Floren, but pulled out a 7-5, 6-4 win. Vice Niederhoffer, number three, dropped a set to John Morrison before winning, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1.

Chum Steels suffered a drastic reversal of form in the second set, but number four match, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. At number five, Doug Walter got off to a slow start, but beat Tucky Mays, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2.

The Crimson doubles teams had close matches too, but all pulled them out successfully. Dean Peckham and Bob Inman, usually the number three doubles team, took over the number one spot and whipped Floren and Mays, 6-4, 8-6.

Mike Belknap and Ed Robinson won an intercollegiate (12-game) set from Smoyer and Mays, 14-12, in the number two doubles match, and Walker and John Vinton outplayed Miller and Hull, 6-2, 6-4, at number three.

The win brought the Crimson's E.I.T.L. record to 5-1, with matches against Army and Yale remaining. Princeton's undefeated Tigers virtually clinched the league championship with a 7-2 win over Harvard last Saturday, but wins in the last two matches will still bring the Crimson second place.

The Crimson freshmen, undefeated for the year, blanked the Dartmouth frosh 9-0 in another match yesterday.
