The Commander Hotel, a land-mark on the Cambridge Common and the largest hotel in Cambridge, was sold last week to the Sheraton Corporation of America, Ernest Henderson III, Sheraton President, has announced.

Renamed the Sheraton - Commander, the 350-room hotel will be the 87th in the international Sheraton system.

The new management said that a million dollar restoration program has already started on the hotel, which includes air-conditioning of all rooms and work on the hotel's two ballrooms, function rooms and restaurant.
