Law Student Contends For State Seat Today

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A Law School student's door-to-door campaign for the Brighton seat in the state House of Representatives will be put to the test today. Republican Charles W. Long '62 opposes 40-year-old Peter J. Cloherty in a traditionally Democratic district.

Long has concentrated on attacking the 50 per cent pay raise for legislators, which was approved and then rescinded after a popular referendum. Cloherty, who has previously served two terms in the House, has supported a raise for several years.

The Brighton seat has been vacant since the death of Rep. William F. Joyce, a Democrat, in an automobile accident in October.
