The N.A.A.C.P. picketed in front of the Harvard Club of Boston Saturday protesting the choice of School Committeeman Thomas Eisenstadt as one of Greater Boston's Ten Outstanding Young Men.
The Harvard Club was host to the Boston Junior Chamber of Commerce 1964 Awards program, which honors the city's top young men. Gov. Peabody made a brief appearance at the ceremony.
An N.A.A.C.P. spokesman accused Eisenstadt of "racism" and attacked his record on the School Committee. However, the Junior Chamber of Commerce cited Eisenstadt as a "messiah" in racial disputes. The nine other winners included Jay B. Angevine, associate in Anatomy, and Douglas L. Bailey of the Haravrd Center for International Affairs.
